Do you have a favorite band? If you don’t, studies by Doctor Phil show that you may have problems with your self-esteem. When I found this out, I was at first scared, then relived. How terrible! was my first reaction, but then I thought, Oh, wait. I have a favorite band!
I wrote a poem about the whole ordeal:
Happenstance
It just so happened to me this day,
On May the 9th, as it were,
That piddling about brought me sorrow,
From info I hadn’t yet heard.
Could it be, I have problems with confidence,
Trouble with my outlook on life?
I was saddened by thoughts like these ones,
But after a while, I began to think twice,
‘Great gophers!’ I said to my self on a bench,
now having a fabulous day,
‘I can’t be depressed’, I said with a smile,
for my favorite band is Relient K!
Yes folks, I am proud to share that I am a huge follower of Relient K. I have all six albums (seven, if you include the Christmas one) and have seen them in concert. They occupy a third of the music on my iPod, the number of songs totaling 124. Matt Thiessen is my favorite famous-type person (but Tony claims he doesn’t qualify as a celebrity, just because he isn’t in all those stupid magazines. Tony loves his tabloids).
Grandpa asked me a very interesting question at dinner yester day. He said, ‘Luigi, if you like Relient K so much, then tell me, what is your favorite album?’ I thought about it for a while, then came up with this list:
1. Five Score and Seven Years Ago
2. Mmmhmmm
3. Two Rights Don’t Make a Left (but three do)
4. Relient K
5. The Bird and the Bee Sides
6. The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek
I excitedly await their next release! Still wondering why I like Relient K? It is because of their amazing talent as musicians. Some people believe that they just bang on their instruments and kind of yell along with the stupid lyrics. To say such a thing show that the listener is not very attentive and doesn’t perceive sound as well as the rest of the population. The skill of Matt Thiessen, Mathew Hoops, Ethan Luck, John Shneck, and Jonathan Warnes is simply incredible. As a guitar player, I can truly appreciate what those men do on their guitars. Each song they orchestrate is filled with impossible chords, solos, rhythms and riffs that I could never dream of playing. Also, the diversity of their music is astounding. I have many other bands I like, but a few of these bands are just repetitive. They are good, but then the next song sounds very similar to the first, and the next sound similar to that one. Not so with Relient K. Additionally, the vocals of the band are very pure and smooth. They have recorded several a cappella songs that really show their amazing singing skills.
I have no problem with someone not appreciating Relient K as much as I do, but at least listen to enough of there music to form an opinion before writing them off as stupid clowns who have no talent.
